Reiki - meaning Spirit Energy - is a powerful yet gentle form of energy transfer healing that works with the 7 chakras to restore balance on the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual levels, offering a deep state of relaxation that helps free body and mind. Reiki is most commonly offered as a hands-on healing therapy, but due to its nature it's not limited by the physical and is therefore a powerful healing approach even by distance.
A Reiki therapist acts as a channel for the energy to flow to exactly where it is needed to restore balance to your energetic and physical body. During a Reiki treatment you lie on your back on a Reiki table, fully clothed, as I gently place my hands on specific points on your body relating to each of the seven chakras, as well as any other areas to which I'm intuitively guided as needing specific attention. This being a hands-on therapy, your feeling of comfort and safety is of primary importance and I will always communicate with you first and ask your permission before placing my hands on your body.
During the course of your Reiki treatment I may channel messages which I will then pass on to you either during or after your treatment, as I'm intuitively guided. Any information that comes through does so to support the clearing of energy, and is likely to help you gain greater insight into aspects of your current life situation where there may be imbalance, thus enabling you in your own time to make empowering steps that can bring about positive change and enhance your everyday life.
As a gentle but powerful healing therapy, Reiki is suitable for just about any complaint, and is often a popular choice for those new to healing therapies. Because it's a non-invasive therapy, Reiki can also be very supportive to aid healing alongside allopathic medicine and standard medical treatment.
Some of the things Reiki can help with:
Every person's experience of Reiki is unique to them. Many feel a sense of deep relaxation and may even feel that they've drifted off into another realm. Some people experience colours and / or images, whilst others simply experience a deep state of rest. No two treatments are ever the same, as different things rise to the surface to be cleared. Many people describe their experience of Reiki as deeply relaxing and calming, and others go as far as to describe it as life-changing.
Once your Reiki treatment is complete, time will be taken to allow you to 'land', as you drink a glass of water and have the opportunity to share anything that has come up for you. During this time I will also share any information I received intuitively that I did not share with you during the treatment, and where needed make some suggestions for your onward self-care. When getting down from the Reiki table I will support you in grounding and making sure that you're fully 'on earth' before you leave.
In the hours after your treatment it's important that you drink plenty of water and where possible avoid alcohol for the remainder of the day. The affects of Reiki will continue in the hours or even days after your treatment, so it's recommended to take things as gently as possible for yourself, especially immediately after your treatment. Most people feel deep relaxation whilst receiving Reiki and a much greater sense of ease, peace and well-being in the period after. If a very deep level of healing has taken place, it's possible that things may rise to the surface for you over the coming days, and you may feel more sensitive than usual. Very occasionally people feel a little foggy or experience a sense of purging the day after, as the energy continues to do its work. If this happens, it usually clears quickly and the best way to support yourself is to relax as much as your situation allows, and continue to ensure you stay well-hydrated, as this helps with the flushing out of toxins from your system.
